Basin View is located in the beautiful Shoalhaven region near to the centre of Jervis Bay. It is located two and half hours south of  Sydney and two hours east of Canberra. Its natural beauty and proximity to two big cities have made it a Mecca for tourists and retirees alike. It is the fourth most popular area in NSW for the over 55s to resettle in their pre or post retirement years.

The doctor will be required to assess, plan, treat and evaluate all categories of patients from the neonate to the very elderly using researched based medicine. Clinical situations that can be anticipated encompass the broadest clinical contingencies including paediatrics, gastroenterology, care of the elderly, gynaecology, dermatology, antenatal care, emergency medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, mental health and ophthalmology.

Technical procedures the doctor will be expected to undertake competently include spirometry, ECG, proctoscopy, simple excision of skin lesions, skin biopsies, cryotherapy, repair of lacerations, removal of foreign bodies, immunisations, treatment of simple closed fractures,  joint injections, aspiration and drainage of body fluid and insertion and removal of hormone/contraceptive therapy such as implanon. The doctor will be required to have basic life support skills and work to obtain advanced life support skills.

One of the GP's in the practice is moving back to Sydney for family reasons so the new doctor would have an established patient base to start with. The practice is thriving and very busy. You would be well supported by loyal and friendly pactice staff including a full time RN, a credentialled mental health nurse and a credintialled diabetic educator.
