Medical Jobs; Work As A GP

The GP at Bourke Aboriginal Health Service (BAHS) will work as part of the BAHS Clinical Team which includes Aboriginal Health Workers, nurses, allied health, administration support and visiting specialists. The purpose of this team is to facilitate all clients to participate in regular Health Checks and systematic care for any presenting problems. To facilitate this BAHS is committed to engaging the Aboriginal community of Bourke in healthy living practices through Health Promotion activities, high quality health care interventions and health education.

BAHS is one of many health services in Bourke and due for expansion in 2012. The GP will be required to develop professional relationships with members of other services to ensure appropriate interagency referrals and feedback. The GP may also negotiate to participate in Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) duties at the hospital in Bourke.

Qualifications

The applicant is required to provide proof of current Medical Board of Australia registration. It would be an advantage if the applicant is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners or progressing towards this qualification or equivalent.

Experience and /or qualifications in Aboriginal Health would be highly valued.

• Commitment to take a proactive approach to Aboriginal Health issues including regular Health Checks, GP Management Plans, Team Care Arrangements (TCAs), recalls and completion of Cycles of Care.
• Conform to professional standards of clinical expertise and ethical practice
• Be responsible to the Board of Management through the CEO for the provision of General Practitioner services to clients of Bourke Aboriginal Health Service (BAHS)

• Commit to initiatives put in place to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery within BAHS.
